As health care costs continue to rise, Aldine ISD is forced to make some important plan changes for the coming year. The reason is simple. The money we pay in claims each year far exceeds the amount we collect in premiums. We must work together to control costs.
The good news?
The district has carefully chosen this year's plan offerings to give you a range of cost and coverage options. Consider your options and decide which plan is best for you.
Here's what's changing:
Medical plan changes
We're offering two plans, with two different networks. Both of these plans will cover eligible medical expenses, so it's just a question of determining which balance of cost and coverage best meets your needs. The plans are:
Memorial Hermann ACO
Open Access Select
Voluntary plan changes
There are no changes to our voluntary plans for 2019, except an increase in Cigna Dental and YMCA Health Club rates.
Do your research
It’s important to do your research and make sure you know what network your doctor is in before you enroll.
Under Common Searches, enter your search criteria (Healthcare Professionals, Behavioral Health, etc.)
Select a TYPE (All PCP's, General Practice, Internal Medicine, etc.).
Put in your zip code or city, state and click Search
Select the network you would like to search:
(TX) Aetna Whole Health – Memorial Hermann Accountable Care Network for Memorial Hermann ACO plan
Aetna Select Open Access/Aetna Select for Open Access Select plan
Click Continue to begin searching for doctors in that network.
Please note: If you do not see your physician based on your search criteria, you can enter the name of your physician and search without choosing a plan. Once your physician name appears, click the hyperlink to see accepted plans.
Once you have determined what network your doctor is in, and considered all of your options, you will be ready to enroll. Remember, Annual Enrollment is 11/2/18 - 11/14/18. You must enroll in order to ensure you choose the plan that's right for you.
Things to think about for 2019
Consider opening a health care flexible spending account (FSA) to help cover eligible medical expenses. You can set aside the amount you expect to need and have it deducted from each paycheck before taxes, which saves you money in the end.
Take a closer look at all of the medical plan options. Each of our two new medical plans is associated with a different network of doctors and hospitals. If you see a doctor that's not in the network, you may be stuck with a hefty bill. So if there's a doctor that you really want to be able to see, it's important to check their network status before choosing a plan. A little research now can save you a big expense later. Go to aetna.com/docfind to see which doctors are in each network.
Consider adding voluntary benefits. There are many ways these benefits can provide financial support when you need it most.
Remember, the benefits we offer do more than cover you when you get sick. They can also help you get healthy and stay that way. Take advantage of the special features that come with your plan, like free preventive care, the 24/7 Nurse Line and health and wellness programs.
New for 2019, we are implementing RediMD, a telemedicine provider, to reduce the number of unnecessary emergency room visits. RediMD provides primary medical care online via webcam, smart phone, or by telephone. To be diagnosed, get a prescription or get a recommendation for treatment, contact RediMD at www.redimd.com. There is a $35 charge per visit. The code is aldineisd.
For any benefits question or concern, including 24/7 Nurse Line access, one call does it all.
