Retirement Plan Options

For most educators, TRS benefits won’t fully replace your working income once you retire. A good first step is requesting a benefit estimate directly from TRS, either by calling 800.223.8778 or visiting TRS.gov. Knowing your projected monthly payout makes it much easier to see where you stand and how much additional income you’ll need to maintain your lifestyle.

That’s where Aldine ISD’s voluntary retirement plans come in. Employees can enroll in a 403(b) Tax-Sheltered Annuity, a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan, or both. Contributions to either plan are made on a pre-tax basis, which reduces your taxable income for the year while building additional retirement savings on top of what TRS provides.

Choose the plan that fits your goals and follow the enrollment steps to get started.

Medical and Rx Icon Medical and Rx

Medical and pharmacy benefits cover your healthcare needs including doctor visits, hospital stays, prescriptions, and preventive care. Understanding your plan helps you minimize out-of-pocket costs and choose the right providers.

Dental and Vision Icon Dental and Vision

Dental and vision benefits cover routine exams, cleanings, eyeglasses, contacts, and more. Most preventive services are covered at 100%, don’t leave free money on the table.

FSA and HSA Icon FSA and HSA

Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts let you pay for healthcare with pre-tax dollars, effectively saving 20-30% on eligible expenses like copays, glasses, and prescriptions.

Disability Icon Disability

Disability insurance replaces a portion of your income if you can’t work due to illness or injury. Short-term covers weeks to months; long-term covers extended periods. Think of it as paycheck protection.

Employee Perks Icon Employee Perks

Exclusive discounts and perks available only to district employees. These cost you nothing extra — they’re part of your total rewards package. New offers are added throughout the year.

Life and Voluntary Life Icon Life and Voluntary Life

Life insurance provides financial protection for your loved ones if something happens to you. Your employer provides basic coverage automatically, and you can buy more at discounted group rates.

Wellness Icon Wellness

Wellness programs help you stay healthy and may earn you incentives. From fitness challenges to health screenings, these resources support your physical and mental wellbeing year-round.

Important Notices Icon Important Notices

Required legal notices and compliance documents. These inform you of your rights under federal and state law regarding healthcare coverage, privacy, and benefits administration.
